Seminario Aleksandar Matic, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden: Looking into next generation batteries with operando X-ray imaging

Sergio Brutti ha il piacere di invitarvi al seminario:

Looking into next generation batteries with operando X-ray imaging
di Aleksandar Matic, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden

Il seminario si terrà martedì 30 settembre alle ore 15.00 in Sala Parravano, edificio Cannizzaro (CU014).

Abstract

Development of new battery technologies requires understanding functionality of new materials, mechanisms of new chemistries and kinetics of processes that often occur far from equilibrium conditions, over multiple length and time-scales, and depend directly on the working conditions of the device. In this seminar I will discuss how X-ray imaging techniques can be applied to adress these challenges. In particular, the role of operando experiments will be discussed, where we follow processes directly in a working battery cell in real time.

Aleksandar Matic is professor of Physics, Head of the Division for Materials Physics at the Department of Physics and director of Chalmers Battery initiative at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden. His research interests span from fundamentals of soft matter to applied research on materials for energy applications. A particular focus is materials for next generation batteries, e.g. nano-structured carbon materials, metal electrodes, solid state batteries and highly concentrated electrolytes. He also has a strong interest in the use and development of large-scale facilities for synchrotron X-ray and neutron scattering.
